Explanation: In each case, the symbols rotate 45° clockwise and the new symbol replaces the middle.

Explanation: In one step, the lowermost line rotates through 180°. In the next step, the uppermost line disappears. In the third step, the line which rotated in first step disappears. The process is repeated.
