What is difference between memory mapped I/O and input output mapped I/O?

Explanation

  • In memory mapped I/O processor and I/O devices share the same memory location (memory) while in input output I/O processor and I/O devices have different memory locations.
  • In memory mapped I/O single set of read and write instruction is used while in input output I/O different set of instruction for both read and write instruction is used.
  • Decision making is difficult in case of memory mapped I/O whereas it is easier in I/O mapped I/O.
